| What are the print specifications? The magazine is printed offset litho on 115 gsm gloss art, screen 150. To obtain the best possible results, we require a contract-quality proof with all material. We take as much care as possible with material submitted, but in the absence of such a proof we cannot take full responsibility for the final appearance of your files. Material can be supplied on all common media, though we recommend CD or Zip. We accept digital files only in the following formats: Quark Xpress 3, 4 or 5. If using version 6, or Passport, please downsave as appropriate. Please use ‘Collect for output’ and include fonts if using Mac. If sending PC format files, note that we will have to substitute the fonts with as close a match as possible. Picture files should be CMYK tifs at 300 dpi at target size (halftones) or 800 dpi at target size (line-art). We accept EPS and PDF files but it is essential that these are set up correctly. Ensure that fonts are embedded and that images are not downsized below the resolutions stated above. Unless you have specifically booked spot colour, all colour elements must be set up to split for CMYK working. Elements set up incorrectly may appear wrongly or not at all, leading to unexpected results. Please note that Microsoft files in Word, Publisher, etc. are not suitable for final use, although we can ‘cut & paste’ text from such files into Quark. If you submit material this way, please supply any pictures separately, not placed in the documents.
